How It All Started

Once upon a time, a girl named Megan (hey, that’s me!) developed a strong curiosity for the world around her. For every new place she explored, the desire to immerse herself in the next destination seemed to become insatiable! She swam with the sea turtles in the alluring waters of Hawaii, danced in the rains of Galway, and feasted her eyes on the Great Pyramids of Giza. She also ate at McDonald’s in these places. A LOT. During her time in Egypt, she survived off a two-week supply of hamburgers and HoHo’s. A zest for life, and an absolute garbage palate!

Enter Matthew. Wildly handsome with a bold, energetic personality as big as the sun. He earned his college degree in culinary arts and spent a good portion of his free time eating his way around the city. A connoisseur of all things foie gras and Cabernet. While he certainly seemed to nail the role of a “foodie”, his idea of travel was hopeless at best. I’d never deny the man’s sense of adventure, but his approach to travel was completely lackluster! Florida, Florida, and more Florida topped his rotating flight plans.

An unlikely match, we shared our first date at none other than a fancy French restaurant. While I struggled to navigate the menu, I couldn’t help but find him charming as he picked out a sparkling wine for us and muffled his laughter at my noticeable incompetence. He even encouraged me, “Little Miss Debbie” to try escargot for the first time. Several weeks later, we decided we should travel to Iceland together and we haven’t looked back since. I’ve gotten him hooked on exploring beyond gators and palm trees and he has made chicken McNuggz a thing of my past (mostly, shh).

Here you will find stories and advice from our travels, both near and far. We will also highlight experiments from our own kitchen and give recommendations for eateries we think you’ll love too.

Cheers,

Megan and Matt!

PS – This is one of our first photos taken together. Look at baby Matt with no beard!
